Sabzali Sharif (born 1946)

Sabzali Sharif is painter; he also works in monumental art, enamel, and book graphics. He is art pedagogic and has many students. He has titles of Honored Art Worker of Tajikistan, People’s Artist of Tajikistan, Laureate of the Prize of the Ministers Council of the USSR, Laureate of the State prize of Tajikistan named after Rudaki. He was born on May 9, 1946 in Khatlon region of Tajikistan in the family of a hereditary rural artisan. Studied at the Republican Art School (teachers: M. Olimov, A.T. Aminjanov, R.M. Tokman). In 1972, he graduated from Tashkent Theater and Art Institute where studied at the following professors: V.I. Zhmakina, Ch. A. Akhmarova. He became the Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR and the Union of Artists of Tajikistan since 1977. He was a participant of numerous exhibitions since 1970. Personal exhibitions held: in 1980 – Moscow, in 1984 – Nicosia (Cyprus), in 1986 – Kabul (Afghanistan), in 1996 – Dushanbe, in 1997 – FRG. His works are in the collection of museums and galleries in Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Hungary, Poland and private collections in USA, Germany, Switzerland, as well as Moscow, Tashkent, Dushanbe.
